“Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you.” – Annie Dillard
Annie is talking about writing but everything she says is so relevant to life, I had to share more of her words:
- One of the few things I know [about writing] is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time
Give away your talents – share them, express them, spread them through the world.
- Do not hoard what seems good for a later place; give it, give it all, give it now. Something more will arise for later, something better.
People often live from the scarcity mentality, that there is a pie with X many slices. What if we could all live in a place of infinite pie and felt safe giving it away? The world would be a better place for everyone.
- Similarly, the impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive.
Each of us was born with gifts and talents to bring to the world; it is our sole/soul purpose to give with abandon.
The reason I have this blog is to spread the idea of abundance, the belief that there is plenty to go around. I hope these words from another writer will ease any fears and free your heart to embrace all that is your birthright.
