There has been a lot of talk about 2016 being a crappy year. I am sure it was for some people, and I certainly agree that crappy things happened. Lots of people I admired left us – David Bowie, Prince, George Michael and that made me sad. The country I live in elected a despicable excuse for a human and that scares me. Terrorists continue to murder…in Brussels, Nice, Lahore, Berlin and force thousands to flee their homes and that enrages me.
Yes, for sure, lots of crappy things happened. But, lots of good things happened and for that I am grateful. The US lifted sanctions against Iran and Cuba, the summer Olympics were exciting and inspiring, medical and scientific breakthroughs changed the future for thousands and Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar!!
I close out 2016 filled with hope. Hope is an essential element of abundance and in the words of Helen Keller “Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”
And it was in this spirit that we spent the day on our mountain (Mt Rainier, if you’re wondering). Outside, breathing in fresh air, surrounded by snow, beauty and other earth lovers. It was possibly the best way to spend January 1st. And any year that begins with such joy promises to be fabulous. And abundant.
May your 2017 also be joyful, fabulous and abundant.
