I missed the last blog post because I was spending time with my much-loved husband and our youngest son in the Florida Keys. One of the lessons I have learned more deeply as we have been traveling the country these past 7 months is the need to embrace my family and loved ones, hold them close, tell them and show them, often, that I love them. I hope I have improved in communicating with our children, I know I have put forth more effort and I am more conscious of ways to stay connected.
Every year I make a promise to myself that I will remember birthdays and anniversaries of all cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends etc… and send cards. But you know, instead of this silly repetitive promise my travels have taught me to be more intentional about the people I truly want to keep close. And to work hard to let these few people know how much I love them and how much abundance they bring to my life.
Another lesson I have learned is that time flies and it is easy to let the months pass, especially when you’re having fun. And I have also learned that this is no excuse for losing touch; time flies for all of us. Loving relationships are only maintained with regular contact, whatever form that takes (phone calls, postcards, FB messages, texts, Skype and all the other options!)
There are so many things I want to remember from this amazing trip we are enjoying; today I want most to remember the lessons of love.
